Vera Ann Farmiga, the older sister of Laryssa Farmiga, is a successful actress, producer, and director, who made her acting debut with a minor role in the TV series, Rose Hill (1997). She was born in Clifton, United States on August 6, 1973, and was raised in New Jersey alongside her siblings. She spoke Ukrainian as her first language.
Vera Farmiga studied Fine Arts at Syracuse University after graduating from the John Baptist Ukrainian Catholic School, New Jersey. She participated in the College theatre festival and performed well in her role in the drama, The Seagull.
Subsequently, she followed up with acting and was involved in some productions such as The Tempest (1996), Rose Hill (1997), The Opportunists (2000) and UC: The Undercover among others.

Taissa Farmiga who was likewise, born in New Jersey is the youngest of among the Farmiga siblings. She had wished to be an accountant but was persuaded to join her sister in Higher Ground as the younger version of the character she played in the movie.
