Colorado’s 3rd congressional district representative since 2021, Lauren Boebert had been married to Jayson Boebert since the 2000s until 2023, and together, they raised 4 boys.
Jayson was with the American politician and gun rights activist since she was a teenager and throughout her political career having served Colorado’s third district for 2 tenures.
However, following their divorce in 2023, he won’t be by Lauren’s side when she switches to the 4th congressional district if she wins the next elections.

1. Jayson Boebert Met Lauren When She Was 16 Years Old
In 2002, when the congresswoman was 16 years old, working as Lauren Opal Roberts, at McDonald's, she met Jayson and their relationship took off from then.
At the time, Jayson Boebert worked in an oil rig and Lauren who used to work at Burger Kings, returned to McDonald's in Rifle, where she took up the job of an assistant manager.
Boebert was 22 at the time and although the legal age of consent in Colorado was 17, Lauren’s mother didn’t object to the relationship.
According to the politician, she and her now ex-husband didn’t break any law, either.
In her memoir ‘My American Life’, Lauren Opal stated that she fell in love with Jayson at first sight and knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.
They even made plans to get married within 4 months of meeting and went as far as traveling to Las Vegas to get married.
By 2004 when Lauren was 18 and a senior in high school, she and Jayson Boebert decided to start their own family.
2. He is a Father of 4 Boys
Jayson became a father age of 25 when his partner Lauren, gave birth to their first child.
Tyler Boebert, Jayson’s first child with his then-wife was born on March 21, 2005. At the time of his birth, Jayson’s wife had to decide to drop out of school to take care of her family.
Two years after the birth of Tyler, Boebert and his wife welcomed another child, a son, Brody. Lauren went on to detail how the birth of her first 2 sons happened in her memoir and stated that she had to be induced by the doctors before the boys were born.
She further stated that Brody weighed 6 pounds and 12 ounces at birth and was very healthy.
At the time of Brody’s birth, Lauren had left McDonalds and worked at an energy company.
Brody is an athlete who competes in both track and field sports as well as football.
The couple’s third child was born on July 12, 2009, in a very unlikely place and situation.
Kaydon Cline, the 3rd Boebert son was born in the front seat of his father’s pick-up truck while the couple were on their way to the hospital.
Lauren detailed the experience stating that labor started in the middle of the night and within an hour, her contractions became more frequent.
Before they could make it to the hospital, her water broke and Kaydon’s head was already out. She then pulled him all out by herself and cuddled him throughout the rest of the ride to the hospital.
Jayson and Lauren decided to have a third child when the congresswoman realized that it was cheaper than getting birth control.
In 2011, Jayson and the mother of his 3 sons welcomed yet another boy to their family. Named Roman, the boy was born in a home birth as Jayson and Lauren’s family were present to witness the birth.
Despite Lauren’s fame, not much is known about the personal lives of the boy. However, Tyler has been in the news more times than the others combined.
3. He is a Businessman
Jayson Boebert is a businessman who owned a restaurant known as ‘Smokehouse 1776’. Smokehouse 1776 restaurant was co-owned by his wife alongside another restaurant known as ‘Shooters Grill’.
Both restaurants were across each other and they are also now both defunct. The couple also opened another restaurant called ‘Putters’ on Rifle Creek Golf Course. This restaurant was sold in December 2016.
In 2017, about 80 people who attended a Garfield County Fair reportedly contracted food poisoning after eating pork sliders from Shooters Grill and Smokehouse 1776’s temporary location set up close to the fair.
To make matters worse, Jayson’s restaurants did not have legal rights to operate at the location. The Garfield County health department later revealed that the poisoning was caused by unsafe and poor food handling. They didn’t get any fines or disciplinary punishment after the incident.
Shooters Grill closed down in 2022 after the landlord of the property refused to renew the lease to the building.
4. Boerbert’s Wife Filed for Divorce After Almost 2 Decades of Being Married
About 18 years into their marriage, Jayson’s wife filed for divorce. She cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the divorce but many news publications and reports to local authorities show that Jayson has been conducting himself in ill manners.
There have been a lot of accusations leveled against Boebert ranging from flashing his privates at a group of women at a bowling alley to mistreating others and even causing discomfort to his neighbors.
As of April/May 2023, the congresswoman filed for divorce from her long-time husband, and by December 2023, it was finalized.
The divorce came as a shock because Lauren severally praised Jayson for being with her all the years. She also repeated how she was grateful to do life with him a few years prior, during their 15th anniversary.
This decision came the same year they were both made grandparents after their first son, Tyler, and his girlfriend welcomed a baby.
Jayson became a grandfather at 42 while his wife was 36 years old and proud of her new status. Tyler was 18 when he welcomed his first child, just like his mother was.
Also, Lauren’s mother was a teenager when she birthed Lauren so Tyler ‘kept the tradition going’.
Jayson Boebert’s wife is anti-abortion and she was happy to learn that her teenage son and his girlfriend were doing the right thing by keeping their baby.
5. He Has Had Several Encounters With The Law and Law Enforcement Agents
As already stated, Jayson has been on the wrong side of the law a couple of times already This possibly dates back to the bowling alley saga.
However, he has also had the neighbors and even his child call the police on him for misdemeanor and purported assault.
One of the Boebert sons called the emergency line on December 11, 2022, claiming that his father was ‘throwing him around’. The boy sounded devastated but when the dispatch officers investigated deeper, they realized that there was no physical contact as Jayson and Lauren claimed and that the boy only got into an argument with his dad which escalated.
For his conduct, especially in public, Jayson has been made to serve time and be on probation amongst other punishments.
His first son, Tyler has also gotten a name for himself as a troublemaker. The ex-husband of Lauren Boebert and his son were accused back in August 2022 of disturbing the peace of their neighborhood.
When neighbors tried to caution Tyler for speeding in a residential area with kids playing around, Tyler only cussed at them and continued. Later, Jayson went to pick a fight with the neighbors claiming that someone took a hit at his son.
Tyler has also faced charges of felony and theft in Colorado. He was arrested and faced 22 charges which included criminal possession of a financial device, criminal possession of ID documents, conspiracy to commit a felony, first-degree criminal trespass, and petty theft.
6. Jayson Boebert was Arrested After an Altercation with his Ex-wife in January 2024
On January 6, 2024, news broke that the ex-couple was involved in an altercation in a restaurant in Silt, Colorado. He faced 3 charges for what transpired including disorderly conduct, third-degree trespass, and obstruction of a peace officer.
Boebert initially called the police and claimed that his ex-wife domestically abused him but Lauren and her lawyers quickly worked to clarify the false accusations leveled against her by her ex-husband.
Following many happenings involving Jayson, Lauren filed a restraining order against Jayson for her and her sons. After a while, she withdrew the restraint.
7. Jayson Boebert Has a Protection Order From His Son
A few days after Jayson had the altercation with his ex-wife in January 2024, he also had a spat with his first son, Tyler.
At about 1 a.m. on January 9, the father and son had a go at each other which supposedly got physical. Tyler called the authorities on his father claiming that he was assaulted and that Jayson even took a rifle.
For this, the father of 4 was brought to face charges of prohibited use of weapons, harassment, and assault in the third degree.
Tyler filed for a ‘protection order’ against his father. This order included no harassment or threats to be made to Tyler, no relinquishing of weapons or firearms, and no consumption of alcohol.
As father and son were living together, there was no protection against contact. Jayson accepted the court order regarding the protection order.
